I'm a pedi nurse on an inpatient floor and we would never encourage
weaning.  We provide support like suctioning nasal passages before feeds.
If baby has to work hard to get a let down,  we have mom pump to get the
milk flowing. If baby refuses to feed,  we have done IV fluids and NG feeds
of pumped BM. Never weaning!
