Hi Everyone,

I have a patient that is having recurrent breast pain, really pain that
continues and has really never gotten any better. Pt had trouble after baby
was born with latch, saw for consult and worked on latch and mom reported
decreased pain. Since that time though she states that she has "deep breast
pain, worse after nursing". Discussed thrush/yeast with patient, tried APNO
cream without result, tried Diflucan x2 without result. Has been on anbx
while out of state (Clindamyacin) with "maybe a small amount of relief but
the rx was so expensive, that it really wasn't that much better that she
desires to try again. She has never had fever, lump, redness etc.
Interestingly enough though the patient has an episiotomy site that is not
healing well. We have tried estrace cream to the area with only a small
amount of improvement. Baby seems to latch well now and mom states that
there is no pain with the latach but afterward she feel like she needs to
compress the breast about mid-way between the nipple and her body as hard as
she can to decrease the pain she has after nursing. She did not feel any
better after trying the diflucan either. Please help!
