I like to think of lactnet as a level playing field - where each of us
brings unique backgrounds and perspectives to a profession that
benefits from them all. Toward that end, and as a tiny step toward
the elimination of titles in the Real World, I'd love to see us drop
them here. No one writes Nurse Nellie or LC Elsie (or Plumber Patty
or Lawyer Lucy, for that matter). Why Dr Dora.

It took me a long time to be able to call my doctors, dentists,
whatever by their first names with comfort. Dropping the titles was a
major part of a process that finally allowed me to see these people as
my fallible employees, not infallible Oracles - no different from a
plumber or lawyer. Why would doctors be the only people in the entire
universe of life skills who need a title?

I like having our credentials in the signature line, because it really
helps place the perspective of the writer. But as a title? Nah.
