The Diabetic Educator, RN's concerns were:

1. The Cox article suggest hand expression beginning at 36 weeks.  She felt that this was too risky and could stimulate labor.  She said that 38 weeks might be acceptable.

2. When diabetics start labor their sugar drops and when they breastfeed their sugars are a little more difficult to control.  

3. Since colostrum is higher in protein and lower in sugar, she's not sure that it is the best supplement.

4. She has never heard of this and keeps up on current methods.
