I tend to be a lurker, but need help in this case, please! A client just
sent me this email:

---------------------------------------
A few months ago I applied for a PPO insurance, and as soon as they started
investigating my HMO
dropped me because I had new coverage (I didn't but I didn't care because
they weren't helping
anyways) Today; I found out I was denied. Because I am still breastfeeding
and my dr told them that
was causing me health problems. (I have a rash on my face that's getting
worse. It was caused when
they tried to treat a small patch of acne with Noritate cream. The
dermatologist is very anti bf and told
my PCP that it was because I was bf and if I'd stop he'd try to help me)
It's the company I have Em under, and when I said "But she's still covered,
right?" They said they had
to re evaluate her because of her recurring UTIs. They also brought up some
health probs I had in the past (Lost way too much weight the first monhs of
pg) I have no ins right now; I have no idea what to do.

---------------------------

Does anyone have any idea what she can do in this case? Clearly she is being
discriminated against due to breastfeeding. Is there some avenue she can
pursue?
Please feel free to email me privately. And now- I will again head into
lurkerdom. Thank you so much.

T. Kelley
