I haven't used these chairs, but of course, I have an opinion :)

Mattresses on the floor are the way to go. Big enough that mom and baby have space to lie in different positions, where it's safe to doze, unlike the chairs. STS should not be limited by either time or the need to shift one's body.

There are lots of different types of inexpensive mattress options, and they can all be pulled out easily and stored away easily.

The reaction you're having is a cultural one - mattresses on the floor, how shocking! And of course, doctors and nurses would object - not so convenient for them if the moms aren't at waist level, but guess what - this isn't about them!

I think this should be the set up for all moms and babies in the early days and weeks. We really do know what to do (moms and babies both) if we have the right setting in which to do it.

Subject: zero gravity recliner for STS

Hi Everyone,

We would like for our moms and dads to be able to do more STS in the nursery. We have limited space and, of course, limited money! I was on the kangaroocareusa.org website and they recommended a zero gravity chair, such as the La Fuma lounge chair for moms/dads doing STS. They state they are very comfortable for post-partum moms to sit in. They are also less than $200 and fold-up when not is use. My question is: Is anybody using something like this and if yes then what are your thoughts. Thanks!
