This thread about Scuba Diving reminded me of a nervous mom at our La Leche League meeting whose doctor had told her never to breastfeed longer than "X" minutes on each breast because after that "the baby would ust be sucking air."
If that were true, women would be able to go deep sea diving without scuba gear! But then, women would never sink because their breasts would keep them afloat! We had a great discussion about such misconceptions, and how doctors are medical experts but don't always know much about breastfeeding.
