Dear lactnetters:

I am a LLLI Peer Counselor and in-training to be a doula and childbirth
educator.  I do these things in addition to another career because I am
convinced that breastfeeding and unmedicated childbirth (not in that order)
will improve our world--better mothers, happier children--it's a good place
to start.

I also feel strongly that human population growth is out of control (six
billion people, and that is double the number since 1960).  To me, this is
very scary. Yet, somehow, I feel a gut understanding that supporting women
during birth and supporting them in bfing is compatible with a goal of
lowering the world population growth rate.  I do not have the right words, or
evidence to back this up.  Have there been studies that relate bfing and
unmedicated birth to smaller families?  Or is the opposite true?   Have
others thought about this question?  Had the same fears?
