Hello,

I have a situation that I am concerned about and want to see if I can get
some input. I am working with a mom whose 7 month old baby appears to have
low muscle tone and a weak suck. Mom has been struggling with milk supply
and lately has been separated a lot from babe because of numerous things
going on in her life which has only made the milk supply issue worse. The
last few times I have seen this mom and babe, the baby has been sucking on
a bottle with either juice or soy milk. Babe also eats three meals of
solids at this point. I am unsure how much time this baby is spending at
the breast and am very concerned about the amount of soy milk she might be
getting. Mom will not give the baby formula.

I searched the archives and found info about toddler's and soy milk, not
babies under a year. My question is how appropriate is this as a
supplement?

Thanks,

Beth Seidel, IBCLC
