Back in the days before we used diflucan, I did see 2 women end long-term
nipple pain when they, themselves, took oral nystatin capsules at their
doctor's suggestion.  One of them commented that the funny taste in her
mouth went away as a result, too.

I suppose they had oral/GI yeast themselves, reinfecting their nipples just
through ordinary hand-to-mouth-to-breast living.  One of the women - one of
the cleanest, healthiest looking moms I've ever seen - had absolutely no
symptoms except ongoing pain and slightly swollen nipples.

But I'll never know whether diflucan would have done the same.

And just in case you never get to the bottom of it, there was a woman in our
LLL group, years ago, who nursed in pain for several years.  When someone
asked her how she would describe her nursing experience, she answered
simply, "joy."
