Hi, All: A pediatrician asked me today about a recommendation in a
recent "Pediatric Notes" that exclusively breastfed babies should be
given a second dose of vitamin K at 1 month of age to prevent
intracranial hemorrhages. I looked through the Archives for discussions
of vitamin K, but except for a posting that some physicians in France
recommend weekly K during exclusive bf, there was nothing along these
lines. I'll be
checking this particular reference, but I thought I'd throw it out to the
group. Anybody know of any studies which actually show increased risk of
hemorrhagic disease in exclusive bf babes? TIA, Alicia. [log in to unmask]
