Hi All,
Just an update on my client who had the 24wk twins (one died).  Remeber the
nurses who gave the bb ABM w/o Drs ok, then the DR was livid bc of that and
the bb was constipated?  Well, it gets better!  (Not)
Talked to mom today.  Baby is back on feeds.  Drs orders said to call mom
before giving bb anything so mom could come down and pump fresh breastmilk
for baby.  Well, not only did the nurses (or someone) not do that, but they
will not allow bb to have full strength EBM.  She is getting a 50/50 mix of
EBM and ABM.  Why?  Well, for one, baby can't tolerate full strength EBM,
and for two, breastmilk has NO Vit D so bb needs the ABM for the Vit D.
Now, when bb gets to 3 lbs, she can have full EBM.
???????????????????

What are these people doing?  I am already in the process of trying to find
someone who can advocate for these folks with this hosp.  I need someone who
knows how to work the system, and that ain't me, yet.  I wish this mom was
strong enough to tell these people off and make them do what she wants them
to.  But they have her convinced that if she doesn't do exactly what they
tell her to, her baby will most likely die.
They wouldn't like me as the mom of a preemie, I'll tell you!
