I will quote the neonatologist, Dr. Susan Landers, who teaches for the
Texas Department of Health. She says, "What do I say about nipple
rings? TAKE THOSE OUT!!!!"

Why does she need to leave them in while she is nursing? With the
barbell type, there is a strong possibility that the baby could aspirate
the gold bead that threads onto the end of the bar. THAT WOULD BE
BAD!!! The nipple ring is making her sore, as is the tape.

"TAKE THOSE OUT!!" Lovingly said, of course.

Feeling crotchetty.
