The good news:
Since the CH episode last week, I've taught several Lamaze classes, a BFing
class, and an Early Pregnancy Class.  To my delight, only ONE of my students
had watched it, and she was aware of and angry with the many inaccuracies
and so forth that it contained (which have already been listed on Lactnet).
My guess is that expectant parents in our area don't seem to stay up late
enough to watch the show.  I qualify that as good news.

In addition:
For two days after it aired I received calls from several new parents who
had seen it.  Some questioned some of what was portrayed.  But most clearly
wanted to vent their anger about how Baby Friendly and BFing were portrayed.
My guess here is that new parents are far more likely to stay up that late.
One described how she jumped to her feet, nursling in arms, correcting
misinformation as she heard it coming from the tv.  To my great
satisfaction, I also heard from two moms whose youngest are 3 and 5, both
telling me that the show had prompted them to look up my number and call and
see if their BF and birthing instructor had seen it.

So in some ways perhaps some good did come out of the show........it did get
people communicating more about BFing and it stimulated many of us in the
lactation field to create opportunities to address the issues it raised.
