A mothers 38wks pregnant who has been HCV-RNA positive some years ago
is tested for HCV-RNA now and was negative

She asked me about the risk of transmission of hepatitis C in breastmilk or
from breastfeeding,
I have read lawrence breastfeeding guide and Riordan. The overall outcome
seemed to me that there is only a small risk and this risk must be balanced
against the demonstrated benefits of breastfeeding in reducing or preventing
other infant infections and illnesses.
I just wander if there is more recent research about this topic.

Second question how is the responsebility in an hospital envirment. I work as
an IBCLC in the hospital. Is it the dockter who,s tot tell the mum about the
outcome of these articels or is it the IBCLC?

welcome al news
