Today I'm wearing "Mother's Milk: Something Wonderful to Grow on" from Diana
Designs.
I probably will not post my wardrobe update every day this month! (very
boring.)

For the record, I'm very impressed with the new ILCA directory. I also know
how hard the Board tried to balance many requests for formatting, and how
hard the staff works to keep records updated. I personally maintained ILCA's
membership database and did the directory from 1985-1988, and know full well
how hard this is to do! When ILCA had under 2000 members, it took me about
three full working days per month just to enter the names and update address
changes. Any printing (membership cards, labels for mailings, design and
layout the directory, etc) took lots more additional time. I realize today's
computers are faster, and ILCA had far fewer members then. It was a big
complicated job then, and it's even more complicated now. Every year, at
least 20% of the population change address. Postal codes and telephone area
codes change. Many people do not notify all the mailing lists that they are
on. All of which obviously creates headaches for database managers.

For you trivia buffs, the ILCA database was born in early 1985 on a
Commodore 64 computer running "The Consultant" software that was customized
by my husband Dennis Smith. I assigned the original 250 member numbers;
later that task was done automatically by the customized software. The
original data has been transferred to and from at least 6 different
computers since then.
