< I thought I was the
only "granny" type L.C. out there>

Deanne,

That's what I thought too till recently Diane Wiessinger posted a fond
farewell to an 80 year old LC friend with whom she had been attending
conferences for years.

I received one post from someone in Israel who is 55. She told me it
helps now and then to hear about "our history". She feels as if she is in
the platoon just behind me, age and experiencewise, in the parade of us
who feel passionately about helping pass on "been there, done that" type
of info for the cause of helping more moms and babes.

Sometimes it can help to share positive experiences with those who may
be trying to "reinvent the wheel" because it seems like that's what needs
to be done in nearly every separate institution. Other times, it gives a
chance to validate the efforts of those who get discouraged, and feel
their neck is out there, all alone.

But mostly, I get a real charge out of learning facets of LC'ing that are
totally out of my area of expertise, and my own culture and nationality.
New stuff, and old. The absolute miracle of the whole lactation process
never seems to lose its fascination for me. I am extremely grateful to
the listmothers for continuing to provide this forum.

Let's hear it, grannies, old and older! I feel like part of a
cyber-village. And you all know - "It takes a village ........" Are many
more of you out there? Shared wisdom counts, regardless of age!
