I've received some good studies showing that volume is way too high. Thank you! That was my feeling too. 32 oz is probably too much for a breastfed baby and most of them average closer to 19 Oz maybe 23 Oz. They just don't need that large volume from 6 to 12 months, but it's not an exact science. I rarely encounter a breastfed baby that takes more than 4 to 5 ounces by bottle.
But the bigger question really in my mind is the unrestricted nursing and what's typical for the baby. I seem to remember for me maybe closer to 6 to 10 times daily? If I had to guess though it's been a long time now.  I would love to hear other people's experiences. I had a friend told me once that she had no idea how many times daily that she nursed and she wouldn't keep track of it any more than she would keep track of how often she hugged or kissed her children. And I've always thought that that was a pretty great explanation.
So for those of you that have breastfed a baby, or your spouse breastfed, how often would you estimate you nursed your babies when they were 9 to 12 months old?
