Karleen,
       Thanks for posting that research involving forced feeding of newborn
rats.  It is nice to know there is research that confirms (at least in rats)
what I've said about newborn babies for years.  When you lean them back and pour
milk (breastmilk, ABM) into their mouths, they simply don't have the
wherewithall to manage that flow, try to breathe without drowning, AND say "Thanks,
I'm done now."!  So they keep swallowing until the bottle is empty, and
caregivers say "Look how he loves his bottle!"  When you get rid of gravity (sit the
baby upright) and use a slow-flow nipple, baby can stop eating when he's full,
just like he does at breast.
