Diane, different factors come into play, was it a large baby? Uterus has
to shrink more. Multips usually feel cramping longer. It's a trade
off-1st baby - bad engorgement, few cramps, subsequent babies - less
engorgement, more cramps. If a first time mom is noticeably cramping after
5-7 days and still has bright red bleeding, I'd worry about what the
uterus is still trying to get rid of. They usually only notice cramps for
a few days. I'm sure someone can give you a more scientific answer, but
it's early am on a holiday weekend! Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
