The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto has a protocol for women
breastfeeding while on lithium.  They have managed to keep several women
breastfeeding while on this drug.  Phone Myla Moretti at (416) 813-7881.

Incidentally, carbamazepine and valproic acid also are effective in bipolar
disorders and are compatible with breastfeeding.
