The mom with diabetes who's had no milk this second time (well, a couple
quick sprays with hand expression) seems to have additional endocrinological
issues.  Local doctors have been puzzled, and she thought you all might have
an insight.

First baby: barely adequate supply, lots of bfing day and night, periods
back at 2 months and regular thereafter.  No significant dip in insulin
needs, which were very predictable throughout lactation (and in general).

This baby: virtually no supply, less bfing during day and no night nursing
at all, yet no periods at nearly 8 months.  Insulin needs widely fluctuating
but generally significantly below pre-pregnancy needs, frequent hot flashes
day and night, frequent PMS feelings that make her think her period will
come... but it doesn't.  She can't seem to lose the last 10 lb, which wasn't
a problem last time.  She's 38.

The last she checked, thyroid was normal.  Her pregnancy was normal, with
breast development, but she had pneumonia when the baby was born in early
March, and didn't really have much energy until July.  She still feels she's
a "hormonal mess."

I think it's unlikely there's a bfing connection anywhere in here, but
lactnet has provided more answers for her than any other source, and she
asked me to ask...
