This is my present scenario. My daughter will be 1 year (wow!) in 9
days, and her most recent "professional" photos look like a little
Buddah. All dimples, fat rolls and the likes.

She was exclusively bf until 8 months (gagged on anything and everything
before then), then started on MINUTE amounts of solids from our plates.
She now eats 1-2 tbsp. per meal or so of solids, which is "a lot" for
her.

My in-laws keep commenting on how fat she is, and how it's not healthy
to have fat babies, because they become fat children. Of course a large
part of obesity is also genetic, and there is not much we can do about
that (both sides of our family have some "rather large people" in
them)...but their solution would be to stop bf, give whole (cow's) milk,
and they most definately do things like eat buttered white bread (I
serve whole grain bread without butter on it) and have a lot of pop with
meals (pepsi, 7-up etc.), which I refuse to even get STARTED on. When
my daughter gets a sippy cup it's with plain old water in it. I try to
keep a fairly healthy menu which has "good fats" in (hopefully)
sufficiant quantities for a small child (avocado, flax meal in bread,
etc.), but without adding in the extra un-needed calories like the sodas
(which are empty calories as far as I'm concerned) and the butter on her
(white) bread. ;-)

Luckily she lives with us, and her father is in agreement with me on the
principle main things.

Fio.
