Our local hospital has done it again... We had twin boys born here as the
first babies in 1999. Big deal about it in the papers. Well, along with
the gifts from the area discount stores, the hospital and MJ donated a
years supply of formula... I'm just sick!!!

I spoke with this mom today, and she said that she was trying to BF but
didn't have enough milk, was trying to pump and of course, supplementing.
(No wonder) I immediately offered a free consultation to help her get on
track, but she only took my number for her HELP list...

This is the hospital where I developed the lactation program, struggled
constantly with management about their BF (or lack of) Philosophy and
unwillingness to even consider the BFHI/WHO code etc., and finally had had
enough and left this fall to start my own business.

I am putting together an editorial and have asked one of our coalition
members (an RD) to write an article about the nutritional side of the
issue, but am so angry at the undermining of this moms plan with what the
public perceives as a welcome, *costly* gift. :-( Costly in more ways
than they know...

If anyone is interested, the article appeared in the Idaho Falls Free Press
January 14-20th

French-Canadian trappers of the Hudson Bay Company because the mountains
resembled 3 breasts or Les Trois Tetons ) A must see for all Lactnetters!!
