  just a note re: thumb sucking... my second sucked his thumb... and I too
suspected that something was very wrong... it took nine months, a move to
another state and a number oh pysicians to find that he hd a grade three
reflux... his esophogus was so raw that even breastmilk hurt... therefore he
prefered his thumb....

  i have heard other's mother's of bf infants talk about thumb sucking in
homes where mom is readly  willing and happy to bf "on request"

  while i certianly agree with much of what you saw, i think it important to
note that this can bea maker of other issues as well.
