Thank you to those people who responded about Sotalol. The mother has had
another admission to Coronary Care overnight with another attack of
tachycardia and atrial flutter, feeling very dizzy, short of breath , and
experiencing severe palpitations. She is not on the medication for the blood
pressure effect , but for the anti-arrhythmic effect, as sotolol is one of
the drugs of choice for her type of cardiac arrhythmia .. Wolf- Parkinson-
White syndrome. She has been told that it has fewer side effects than the
other drug of choice , Amioderone.
Her 2 1/2 year old daughter is really missing breastfeeding.

Mum has sent me the proposal below. Is this feasible if
PK is 2.5-4 hours, AHL is 12 hours but M/P is 5.4.

"If I took the tablet ( I am on the smallest dose possible) at 8 am, Jesse
would have a BF between 7-8 am. Next BF @2 PM , 6 hours after taking the
tablet ( OK ? , or we could miss this feed ) , or we could have a BF @ 4 pm,
then again @ 7.30 pm bedtime, . I would take the 2 nd dose at 8 pm, after
Jesse is in bed. No more feeds over night."

Would it be possible for her to feed as stated or just even morning and
night?
TIA
Barbara Fletcher RN IBCLC
