I have seen it in multi-vitamins and eye-health supplements made for adults for a long time.
But do we know the RDA of Lutein for infants? How much is the "right" amount for someone whose entire diet is made up of this stuff?

=============
I had the pleasure of learning that our hospital agreed to allow a Similac rep to do an in-service on their 'new, improved formula' with the addition of Lutein.

I attempted to sit in the in-service but i could only manage about 2 minutes of it before i had to leave the room or loose my job. I choose to leave the room. So i did not hear the actual presentation.

I called the company to see if they had an actual research on the results of adding lutein to formula if indeed it actually did increase vision but when i called after waiting on hold for a few minutes the rep said that she couldn't find any research directly related to 'trail runs' but she would speak with their medical department and get back to me next week.

So, are any you aware of any actual studies done that proves or disproves adding Lutein to formula improves vision?

I plan to use this as one of my concern points when discussing this issue with the head managers but i want to be 100% sure that there hasn't been any trail runs.
