this mother is grieving. of course she will be very disappointed and sad and
probalby regretful of having the surgery. however, encourage her to continue
in her efforts. i think some of these moms focus so much on the milk volumes
that they lose the joy of bf. the recent posts about adoptive nursing should
be very helpful. what she could do: breastfeed unrestricted. get help w/
other chores. LLL meetings. use a supplementer so babies can be at breast.
many mothers like the lact-aid. post feed pumping *if she can.* make sure
it's a top pump. if she can get the symphony, classic or elite i would
recommend those as top of the line. she could try domperidone. refer her to
BFAR group (check archives) and also diane west's book on bf after
reduction.
under these circumstances, this whole situation can be somewhat
overwhelming. make sure babies are getting plenty milk and growing,
thriving. best to her and the babes.
