Kay Hoover has asked that this be posted to LACTNET. I
received a referral. A very interesting case. G2P2L2 both
babies were premature mother is pumping. She is now 10 days
postpartum. Up to this point she has had copious milk
production. It is suddenly diminishing as it did with her
first baby. She is experiencing extreme muscle pain such
that she cannot pick up her toddler. She gets hives all over
her chest when she pumps and she is having trouble breathing.
Benedryl did not help last time. Steroids were not present to
take last time. If the same thing happens as did last time,
in a few days her milk will be gone. The only thing I could
think of was to ask her primary if a referral to a
reproductive endocrinologist would be appropriate. The
doctors were stumped last time and are just as stumped this
time. Please post to lactnet. Kay
