As far as breastfeeding & IQ goes,I thought that the formula companies
would not invest so much in their algae & fungi if breastfeeding wasnt of
proven benefit to babies IQ.Am I wrong?
I was recently challenged by a mother in an antenatal breastfeeding class
about IQ & benefit of breastfeeding.She had read that the benefit equalled
out at 8 years.
It's perhaps  trivial when you think how many bebefits there are with
breastfeeding,but I need to know.It seems I am constantly defending
it(breastmilk) sometimes from interns/mothers etc.I know I'm right,but I
need the "evidence" to back it up it seems.I know....I dont need to prove
it THEY do(whatever their problem is).
I wish I had a photographic memory.If only I had had more breastmilk(only
got about a month back in the early 60's).Mum really wanted to do it
longer,but just didnt have the support.Still 'feels' about it to this day.
All her instincts were so right,but she was a 'good' girl & did what the
nurse told her(most of the time;when she didnt, she felt guilty-& she WAS
doing the right thing instinctively).
