The LEAVEN (The LLL Leader magazine) article on the topic, at
http://www.lalecheleague.org/llleaderweb/LV/LVOctNov98p102.html
points out that, even though the level of fat in breastmilk is fairly
consistent, the exact composition of the fats does vary with the
mother's diet. But at our current level of knowledge, we can't pinpoint
the optimum level of DHA -- possibly the "low" level in some mothers is
sufficient, perhaps there could be other issues if the level is too
high.

For a more intense study of the topic, there are also a number of
articles on the topic in LLLI's Center for Breastfeeding information
http://www.lalecheleague.org/cbi/cbi.html

I hadn't realized that this was completely on line now, and there is no
fee to register for access to over 15,000 indexed, lactation-related
professional articles
