I hear that too -- at first, but many moms can come up with some friends, fellow church goers, etc. that they usually wouldn't approach but sometimes will if encouraged. It may be "easier" when multiples are involved, but junior highers preparing for confirmation or bar/bat mitzvah, etc. or religious high schoolers needing "service hours" can sometimes help as part of education process. (Could be a very helpful project for older homeschoolers.) We've had moms contact senior centers, etc.

If there truly is no one, we usually work something out -- clustering, briefer sessions, pumping one-sided while doing something else and switch, etc. Some milk moving always beats no milk moving in my book. And mothers of multiples are queens of figuring out ways to get by, e.g. the less cleaning of kits (unless we're talking still preterm and formerly infected), etc. Sometimes I just sort of cringe when they tell me shortcuts, but so far all babies have lived -- and quite well!

Karen
