At the very least, the man sounds brash and has no bedside manner. At
the worst, he may not know what normal babies do in terms of bowel
movements. The man is insensitive, in any case. Looking for new
professional assistance is a good idea.

I just spoke with a mom who said her doc said her 3 month old baby has a
small anus. I'm wondering if anyone has heard about this and how one
would diagnose such a condition. After taking a very complete history
on mom and baby, I think the baby is perfectly normal. Up until about 8
weeks, he was pooping a few times a day, but then he switched to once
every 5-7 days or more. The doc wants the mom to use suppositories, and
actually put his finger into the rectum and rotated it, while baby
screamed in pain and mom looked on in horror! He did this without
discussing what he was about to do with mom. He also clipped the baby
when he was a week old, telling the mom afterwards that the baby was
tongue tied. There was no discussion, no consent. The mom is going to
get another ped, but I wanted to check with you all regarding the "small
anus" question.
