Hi All,

I have always loved quotes because, like a good cup of coffee, they get
you energized and going. I have many quotes scattered about for
different things and different reasons. I wanted to share the following
with you:

Beyond is within (Anon)

I have spent the last 30 minutes flipping through one of my favorite
books, "Quotionary" (Leonard Roy Frank, pub by Random House Webster's)
and have score of words I could share, and fill too many digests for too
many moods.

Funny how words can inspire us, and cut us and do so much. Our language
can be a jumble of imprecise overused tired words sludged on and on, or
our language can be careful, sharp, terse- not because we have some
fancy dictionary or oblique prose, but because we have taken the time to
attend to our language and our thoughts. (Hats off to Dianne for her
classic piece on how we use our words)

I hope we will choose the words we use- as we work with mothers and
colleagues, as we try to empathize, educate or to persuade- will be
carefully chosen words that can- as E. M. Forester writes, help us "to
connect...only connect."

Kindest regards,
Aileen Emerling, IBCLC (who is currently wearing her writer's hat, and
getting lost in the process of crafting words for a while...)
