As you already know.  A protocol like this is total CRAP.  Even with general
anesthesia there is no need for pumping and dumping. What about routine
epidurals in labor?  What about IV narcotic use in labor and early
postpartum?  Don't those medications get into mother's milk?

I applaud you for wanting to make a difference her and thinking about
writing a letter.  Humbly I assert  that writing a letter will make any
difference though.   Instead please think about meeting in person. The
face-to-face conversation will likely make a better impression.  It will
personalize the need for a change.

I would hope evidence supporting the change would be a lightbulb of sorts.
Unfortunately by and large practice and protocols are based on personal
style, comfort, and defensive medicine versus evidence.
