This question could border on a request for personal help, but it really
isn't, I am just wondering if there has been reports of similar reactions.
I started taking St. John's Wort, 2 capsules, 3x a day so 900 mg, along
with 1 capsule of B-50 which is several B vitamins in combination. I've
taken the B50's for years without any negative side effects (to me or my
breastfed children), and was assured that the St Johns Wort is also safe.
I found 4 days after starting the SJW my daughter became irritable, very
difficult to fall asleep, and would sleep for short periods of time. It
took me 3 days to pinpoint the cause and stop taking both supplements. 3
days after stopping her demeanor returned to normal. I've since restarted
the B50's without any reaction in my child. I'm curious if any of you have
recommended SJW to your clients and if any have reported a similar
reaction. I won't be trying it again, so I'm not asking for my personal
use, but am curious to know if this is a common reaction. The SJW
recommends supplementing it's use with extra B vitamins, so I'd doubt they
were the problem in combination. Any ideas or comments?
