Susan Johnson's post about the 9 mo old refusing the breast is right-on. 
I see this alot in my practice- the very active 9mo old who is way too 
busy to sit on mom's lap to nurse.
I always remind parents that you can bring a horse to water, but you 
can't make it drink. I agree that trying to nurse the baby at nite, 
nursing in a quite, less stimulating environment can help. I don't find 
that it is primarily due to a low milk supply, although sometimes it can 
be the reason.
Some of my moms will pump and provide milk in a cup or in the baby's 
food instead of weaning, but I know that is hard. I like Susan's ideas, 
thanks.
