Dear all:

Since I'm being trying to diligent about the lessons of those who did not question their own
assumptions -- I'm disclosing one of my "speculations" that may not be correct.

It has come to my attention off-list that my speculations about the shields that women
receive from hospitals in my area may be incorrect. I'm fairly certain that I made sure to
say I don't work in a hospital so I don't know what really is occurring, but only what I hear
and see from moms once they are home --- if I didn't -- I'm repeating that now. So, there
is a black box, the contents of which I can only speculate about.

Anyway, it is possible that the shields that women receive that they perceive as permanent,
could be purchased by the hospital as a more inexpensive "disposable" item and they may
not be "promotional". Regardless of the origination of these shields and their intended
purpose, I have now made it a point to ask whether or not mothers purchased the shields or
got them from the hospital when mothers report supply problems and/or pumping pain.

Best, Susan Burger
