**Serendipity lies in the fact that I am preparing a statement in which I
want to incorporate this aspect.
As I was thinking about it, the mail mentioning the study came in. ;-)

Firstly, breastfeeding promotes proximity

**Exactly; that's why I don't think it is a good idea to implement
guidelines that promote letting baby cry it out and set the egg-timer at 30
minutes to make sure you don't pick up your crying baby before it has
managed to understand how important it is to be independent at the age of
say three, four, ten, fourteen weeks and has fallen asleep and 'learned'
that it has to be able to fall asleep on its own... :-s :-(
This is what is going on and I want to make a contribution to helping
government institutions understand and recognize how ridiculous this is...!
The more 'important' and well underpinned the statement looks, the better
chances to make a difference. (And the more thorough I conceive this text,
the more I learn about writing a good statement! I'm thrilled to be involved
in this!)

I think we need to remember that violence against children

**Yep, all good ideas and references help. It's a lot of work, to put it
together in a well organised way, but I love the writing and the reading
that goes with it and allows me to sit on the couch with a glass of wine,
flipping through pages and chapters in, say, 'Biocultural Perspectives' and
'Sleeping with Your Baby' and 'Bonding' and 'The Oxytocine Factor'. "No, I'm
not lazy, I'm working and studying, kids, so do not disturb!" hahaha

Warmly,

Marianne Vanderveen, Netherlands
