I know I have posted in the past about erroneous information appearing
on Stork Site, a large parenting website (http://www.storksite.com).
Here's the latest....
I logged on yesterday and was confronted with an ad advertising a site
that "gives the basics of breastfeeding." Being the breastfeeding
zealot I am, I of course followed the link, which led me to a site
with NO practical breastfeeding information. What it did have was 5
pages, each with one positive paragraph about breastfeeding (typical
"Breast is best" stuff) followed by paragraphs extolling formula as a
good "second choice." Obviously sponsored by an ABM company, no?
Sent my livid reaction to the Powers That Be at the site. Next ad up:
one from CARNATION FORMULAS!!!! Ack!
This is a HUGE site with tens of thousands, if not hundreds of
thousands, of visitors worldwide. I am appalled that a site dedicated
to "helping" babies & parents would accept this advertising. Worse
yet, these ads go out to their viewers throughout the world, and thus
violate (I would imgine) the WHO Code in countries that have adopted
legislation on it.
If you have a minute, drop the editors a line at
mailto:[log in to unmask] to let them know how unacceptable this
advertising is.
Thanks.
Teresa G. in NC where it was 70 degrees yesterday and is 35 right
now!!!
