After reading a long string of posts offering ideas for this baby, I'd like
to say that - among all the possibilitis - there is also the possibility
that it wasn't allergy in the first place.  That's just one more possibility
to consider, especially if eliminating the most common allergens doesn't
help.
Whatever the cause, as another Lactnetter said, when there is an improvement
it may take a little more time for the gut to heal completely. If the baby
is well and gaining, and the blood has stopped, a severe elimination diet
may be unnecessary.  Where a baby is distressed and failing to gain weight,
that's a different matter, and needs the supervision of a dietitian who can
made sure the mother isn't adversely affected.
I shall be going "no mail" tonight because I need the time for some writing,
but I can be contacted privately while I am off Lactnet.
