Can I ask if ILCA, LLLI or other US-based organisations have made any sounds
about whether they will accept sponsorship from Medela if they continue to
breach the Code. Do they have sponsorship policies that preclude accepting
sponsorship from companies that breach the Code?

I couldn't agree more. My father (who, bless his heart, turns 87
today!) is a pediatrician so I grew up surrounded by oh-so-friendly
formula reps, who were in his office on a regular basis. Those
relationships were way too cozy. As an IBCLC I have long said that
*our* relationship with the breastpump industry is WAY too similar to
what I grew up watching. It bothers me. It's not quite as bad but it's
close enough, and it seems to me that this situation is an acid test.
If Medela is now in clear violation of the Code then we're about to
learn something very important about ourselves. What are we more
committed to - our favorite breastpump company or the ethical standards
of our field? I fear the answer to that question will be the former.

I hope we stand up for what we claim to believe; otherwise, we are no
different than the pediatric profession we so love to criticize...

P.S. I have yet to see this brochure everyone is talking about. Any idea
where I can see what you're all talking about? I'd like to show it to my
boss & other colleagues at Miami-Dade WIC.
