I'm a wee bit behind in my reading of Lactnet posts (went to Rush conference
on Sat. Saw lots of Lactnetters!) but I'd like to add this to the "how long
are you going to keep nursing her?" responses. Usually it was a question
from my mother-in-law or husband's crabby aunt after a long(stressful)
holiday at someone else's home. My babies invariably wanted a long leisurely
cuddly nursing and they would peacefully fall asleep at the breast. My
response would be, "about another five minutes until she's really sound
asleep." Both my breastfed kiddo's nursed until they were about three and
even my oldest daughter who was not breastfed was supportive and loving to
her sisters.
