Isn't that on the normal spectrum ?  The way to use it is to go to
the other breast, and then return to the first one, and then back to
the second one. Sometimes, pumping is best done thinking in terms of
four breasts not two : )

I often suggest to mothers using a pump that they do it this way.
There is no point in pumping for 15 minutes with nothing coming out -
she might as well be on the other breast.

Don't think there is anything odd in what she is describing here (not
to say there isn't something else going on with the baby at the
breast directly).
