Just wanted to let you know how we are currently basing our coverage (which 
may or may not last!) It is from: Journal of Human Lactation Volume 22 Number 
4 November 2006 which states: IBCLC FTE Ratio: Mother/baby coverage 
inpatient 1:783 breastfeeding couplets, NICU coverage 1:235 neonates. The 
whole article is awesome and if you haven't seen it, RUN and find it. 

The 1:1,000 I believe came from the "Brown Bible" of Lactation "Breastfeeding 
and Human Lactation"
