I am hoping for just a little clarification.

I always check people's medela pumps for mold and also suction. I always
remove the faceplate and disinfect it. I agree with the poster that
compared this to mold on the shower

walls, that disinfecting should be sufficient. If there are black dots in
the tubing, they replace the tubing.

What I would like clarification on is the poster that has opened several
pump-in-style pumps and cultured yeast from them. Where are you culturing
it from?? Are you

opening up the actual pump box and culturing the metal mechanics of the
system?? Or are you culturing the white membrane that is under the
faceplate???

Warmly,

Linda Hill RN, IBCLC

PS. As a side note . the milk banks in America are VERY SHORT on supply
right now! Please encourage your moms to donate!
