Rush Prudential HMO here in Chicago actually had me set up a whole Lactation
Program for them. All first time lactating mothers would receive a home
visit and any multip having bf problems would also be able to receive a LC
visit- all payed by HMO. Of course we got it all set up with the finest LC's
in Chicago, and then PS... you need to be a Home Health Care, Joint
Commissioned Certified, etc, etc. Needless to say, the program went by the
wayside. But maybe good news is that they are still working for a progam.
Many of us have received mail from Rush Home Care recruiting LC's. What
that means, I am unsure. Just hope they someday get a program together here
in Chicago.
I have seen people interested in pump reinbursement. This particular HMO
does cover pump rental.
Also, I know that Kim down in Atlanta Georgia, after many months of hard
work, was able to get a bill passed statewide for Medicaid reimbursement for
breastpumps. She worked in coordination with Grady Hospital. That was
implemented in Oct. 1994. Hard work does pay off.
