OK, now I'm really annoyed. The excerpt from the previous digest, below,
is an excellent example of how a person can say one thing and have their
words twisted into meaning something completely different:
In response to my post, another LactNetter wrote:
>As for being irresponsible for not having people who can come over any ol'
>time and watch kids... I don't think that's accurate at all.
NO ONE EVER SAID THIS.
*I* was the one who used the word IRRESPONSIBLE and this was the context:
>"I consider it somewhat *irresponsible of her* not to have developed backup
>systems of childcare for emergencies."
Notice the word "somewhat" and the word "emergencies." No one said it was
irresponsible not to have "people who can come over any ol' time and watch
kids."
Geeze, Louise, I never expected this to erupt into a flame war --- and
believe me, I've been getting majorly flamed by private email.
Someone clearly explain to the list why it is hunky-dory to NOT have made
plans for your kids to be cared for in case of an emergency -- why is is OK
for the police to take them to emergency foster care with people they've
never met, and why it is such a huge burden to develop a few mutual
relationships with people in your community.
