No the expensive saline is not  for iv use. It is in a regular plastic
container and pours out. The saline for iv use is in a different type of
bottle that doesn't pour out, but has a rubber top that requires a syringe to
remove the fluid.  Next time you are in a pharmacy in Texas, ask about buying
a bottle of saline, or call your local pharmacy. It would be interesting to
know the difference practices from state to state and the cost of the saline.
