I had a weird one today. One of the WIC counselors at our northern ARizona
clinic called today - she tells me that a mom who is 27 weeks pregnant came
in today with engorgement and a full milk supply! I have never heard of
this. The mom does not know what to do, she has a history of preterm labor,
and is of course not able to pump. She is extremely uncomfortable.
Why in the world would this be happening? A sonogram has been done, and
there is no evidence of the placenta being torn away, and no other signs of
preterm labor.
Mom goes to doctor today, and who knows what the dr will say. Any advice???
Thank you,
Brenda Phipps, BS, IBCLC
